Meet Our Italian Ronchini CNC Machine
Hollyburn Eye Clinic uses a CNC milling machine from Ronchini Milling Technologies in Italy.
CNC stands for computer numerical control. The machine follows a digital design to mill the main frame components with a high level of accuracy.
This technology allows our team to produce custom eyewear on-site instead of relying only on pre-made designs.
For eyewear production, the machine can mill the front of the frame and its temples from the selected frame material.
However, technology is only one part of the process. Careful finishing, assembly, and fitting help transform the milled components into a complete pair of glasses.
How We Create Your Custom Glasses
You do not need to arrive with a technical drawing or a finished design. A favourite colour, an existing pair of glasses, an inspiration photo, or a general idea can be enough to begin.
1. Share Your Ideas
First, tell us what you like and what you would change about the glasses you have tried before. Perhaps you want a classic shape in a modern colour. Maybe you want a bold frame with softer proportions. You might also have an existing pair that is almost perfect but needs a few adjustments.
Our team will help you narrow down the details.
2. Choose the Shape, Size, Colour, and Finish
Next, you select the elements that will make the frame your own.
You can explore different shapes and proportions. You can also choose your preferred colour and select from the available finishes.
These choices allow you to create something subtle and timeless or bold and expressive.
3. Prepare the Digital Design
We then translate your choices into a digital design for the CNC machine.
At this stage, we review the design details before production begins. This step connects your creative choices with the technical requirements of the frame.
4. Mill the Frame In-House
The Ronchini CNC machine mills the frame components at Hollyburn Eye Clinic.
Creating the frames on-site allows our team to stay closely involved throughout the process. We can follow the design from the first conversation through production and finishing.
5. Finish, Assemble, and Fit the Frame
Finally, we finish and assemble the frame.
Once the frame is complete, our team fits the glasses so they sit properly and feel comfortable. We can then add prescription lenses based on your individual vision needs.
